To describe the history and current standards of care for the treatment of neonatal herpes simplex virus infection.

Objectives: Upon completion, learners will be able to:

  1. Outline the epidemiology of HSV infection in the neonate.
  2. Describe the clinical presentation and diagnosis of HSV infection.
  3. Discuss the past and current treatments for neonatal HSV infection.

    Purpose of this CE Activity: 

    The purpose of this column is to describe the history and current standards of care for the treatment of neonatal herpes simplex virus infection.
