Purpose of this CE Activity:The purpose of this article is to examine the pathophysiology of a patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) in order to assist readers in understanding the hemodynamic effects of PDA. This knowledge forms the basis of understanding how to gauge the significance of the PDA and ultimately, determining which infants may benefit from treatment.
