The purpose of this article is to present a case review of SCN2A refractory neonatal seizures and provide diagnostic and management information for
neonatal nurses and nurse practitioners.

Objectives: Upon completion, learners will be able to:

Describe the impact of the SCN2A gene on infantile epilepsy.
Discuss diagnostic techniques for refractory seizures.
Outline management strategies for the infant with seizures.

Purpose of this CE Activity: The purpose of this column is to evaluate therapies with the potential to prevent bronchopulmonary dysplasia, including inhaled nitric oxide, vitamin A, azithromycin, and diuretics.
