Intended Audience: All mother baby nurses
 
Purpose of this CNE activity: The Academy of Neonatal Nursing provides clinically current information on the technical, medical, and nursing aspects of neonatal care as well as the legal and ethical implications related to that care. This CNE activity provides information to nurses and other health care professionals who care for newborn, premature, and ill infants and their families. Specific objectives for this presentation are listed below.
 
Session Description: Dr. Seacrist leads the way as you explore ways to support parents during and after pregnancy and infant loss. Nurses play an important role in helping parents be prepared for the road ahead. Discuss what to say and what not to say, how to create memories for all gestational ages, how to negotiate insensitivity after loss, and other topics. We encourage you to share your best approaches and practices in this helpful workshop.

Objectives: Upon completion, learners will be able to:

  • Identify specific emotional support strategies that should be offered to parents and extended family members following infant loss.  
Requirements for Completion: The following requirements are necessary for successful completion of this CNE activity.
  • Access to a computer with an Internet connection
  • Attend/view at least 90% of the session
  • Complete and submit the evaluation for this CNE activity
