Pulmonary hypertension is a diagnosis that many associate with term, critically ill neonates. In this session, Ms. Dalgliesh reviews pathophysiology with a view to understand clinical presentations for other infants including the very low birth weight and those infants with chronic respiratory insufficiency. Nursing interventions to support the infant and family will be key to improved outcomes.

  • Define pulmonary hypertension.
  • Differentiate between pulmonary hypertension conditions in preterm and term infants.
