Intended Audience: All neonatal nurses

Objectives: Upon completion, learners will be able to:

1. Distinguish between anaphylactic and anaphylactoid reactions.

2. Discuss the physiology of the neonatal immune system as it relates to anaphylaxis.

3. Define neonatal hypertension.

4. Outline the risk factors for the development of hypertension.

5. Discuss the treatment of neonatal hypertension.

6. Describe the nursing implications of neonatal hypertension.

7. Distinguish between occult and visible blood in stool.

8. Outline the etiology of blood in the stool in very low birth weight infants.

9. Discuss the assessment of the infant with blood in the stool.

Pass the posttest with a score of 80%
