John Lantos is Professor of Pediatrics at University of Missouri–Kansas City and the founding director of the Children’s Mercy Hospital Bioethics Center. There, he runs a post-doctoral training program in pediatric bioethics that has trained nearly 400 child health professionals from 35 countries.
Prior to moving to Kansas City, he was a Professor of Pediatrics at The University of Chicago.
He served as an advisor to President Bush’s Council on Bioethics and President Clinton’s Health Reform Task Force.
Dr. Lantos has published hundreds of peer-reviewed articles and many books, including The Lazarus Case, Neonatal Bioethics, and Do We Still Need Doctors? He has discussed designer babies on Larry King Live and medical errors on Oprah. He was named one of the best pediatricians in the Midwest by Ladies Home Journal. He was recently awarded the 2018 William Bartholome Award for Ethical Excellence from the AAP
