Outline the process of embryologic development of the heart.
Describe the pathophysiology of AV canal.
Identify the signs and symptoms of AV canal and of dextrocardia.
Discuss the diagnosis and management of AV canal.

Purpose of this CE Activity: The purpose of this article is to provide information related to congenital heart defects and care for the families during transport of the neonate from community-based hospitals to tertiary care centers. This article provides essential information related to the cardiac assessment and diagnostic strategies for congenital heart disease.
