Megan Schmidt MD

Dr. Megan Schmidt completed her both her pediatric residency and neonatology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children’s Hospital. In 2008 she joined the Pediatrix neonatology practice in Fort Worth, Texas. Dr Schmidt is the associate NICU medical director at Texas Health Harris Methodist Fort Worth where she helps lead the unit in quality improvement projects and clinical research.

Her interest in quality improvement work led her to tackle the treatment of neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS). Her execution of an evidence-based holistic approach to treating NAS has resulted in a dramatic decrease in the use of pharmacologic-based therapies for this high-risk group of neonates in Fort Worth.
