Shawnee Daniel-McCalla PharmD, BCPPS

Shawnee Daniel-McCalla is a board-certified pediatric clinical pharmacy specialist at the University of Maryland Medical Center, where she works in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). She collaborates with medical teams to optimize pharmacotherapy for vulnerable patients and coordinates the PGY-2 pediatric pharmacy residency program, mentoring future pharmacy professionals. As chair of the pediatric medication safety committee, Shawnee enhances patient safety and promotes responsible medication use. She earned her Bachelor’s in Biochemistry from Oakwood University and her Doctor of Pharmacy from Loma Linda University, followed by a residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital and a pediatric residency at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. In the NICU, Shawnee assists teams in managing a variety of diseases, including fungal infections.
