Purpose of this CNE activity: The Academy of Neonatal Nursing provides clinically current information on the technical, medical, and nursing aspects of neonatal care as well as the legal and ethical implications related to that care. This CNE activity provides information to nurses and other health care professionals who care for newborn, premature, and ill infants and their families. Specific objectives for this presentation are listed below.

Session Description: Dr. Vogel discusses staffing of mother baby units and how to engage staff and leaders in best practice. She also explores the need for clear communication through hourly rounding and use of white boards to ensure patients feel they are receiving exemplary care.

Objectives: Upon completion, learners will be able to:

Discuss ways to engage staff and leaders in best practices.
Give examples of clear communication strategies used to ensure excellent patient care.
