Objectives: Upon completion, learners will be able to:

Differentiate between normal and abnormal physical assessment findings in the newborn.
Discuss appropriate interventions when the newborn assessment is abnormal.

Purpose of this CNE activity: Ms. Temples reviews the essentials of a thorough newborn assessment from head to toe and the differentiation of normal and abnormal findings. Interventions for findings that indicate a risk factor for a complication are also discussed.
