EDITORS
Cheryl Riley DNP, APRN, NNP-BC is a clinical professor at Baylor University, Louise Herrington School of Nursing and the NNP Program Coordinator. Her research interests include increasing nurse capacity across borders, Helping Babies Breathe, and delayed cord clamping. She has presented locally, nationally, and internationally and has many peer reviewed publications. Cheryl works clinically for Envision Health Care as a neonatal nurse practitioner in the DFW area in Texas.
Lori Rubarth, PhD, APRN, NNP-BC is a professor and track lead for the NNP program in the College of Nursing at Creighton University. As a neonatal nurse practitioner, Dr. Rubarth also works clinically in the NICUs of CHI Bergan Mercy Medical Center and CHI Lakeside Hospital. Dr. Rubarth completed her MSN at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, and her PhD at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. She has had numerous articles published in nursing journals and books. As a self-learner, Dr. Rubarth expects students to be involved in their own education and to be self-motivated to learn and grow. When she is not teaching or practicing as an NNP, she enjoys reading, bicycling, softball, quilting and spending time with family.

Kristina Wallingford, DNP, APRN, NNP-BC is an Assistant Professor in the neonatal nurse practitioner (NNP) program at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. She has been a practicing NNP for more than 10 years and currently practices at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center-Bergan Mercy and CHI Health Lakeside. She received her bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees from Creighton University.
Jeannette DelRene Davis, DNP, FNP-C is a Family Nurse Practitioner. Her clinical practice is with Providence Medical Group in Olympia Washington. Most of her clinical time has been as faculty and primary care provider at Providence St Peter Family Medicine Residency, a clinic that emphasizes family-centered maternity care. She is currently an Assistant Professor at Pacific Lutheran University School of nursing, serving as lead faculty for maternal-child courses. She has previously held faculty positions at University of Washington School of Nursing, and University of Washington School of Medicine.

Diane Weiss, MSN, APRN NNP-BC, CPNP-PC is a neonatal nurse practitioner with MEDNAX, INC in Dallas, TX. She is a faculty lecturer in the neonatal nurse practitioner program at the Baylor Louise Herrington School of Nursing, in Dallas. She maintains a dual certification as a neonatal and pediatric nurse practitioner in primary care. Diane is an active member in the Academy of Neonatal Nursing.
Monica Rincon, MSN, NNP-BC practices as a NNP with Pediatrix Medical Group. She has been involved in teaching simulation as well as teaching nursing students during their Pediatric clinical rotation.

Maria Cristina Gallup, MSN, ACCNS-N, NNP-BC is a Neonatal Clinical Nurse Specialist at Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, TX. She is responsible for the orientation and training for the staff of an 18-bed unit, Level III NICU. She collaborates with providers, nurses, and clinical leaders in all quality improvement initiatives to provide optimal neonatal care and standardize evidence-based practices. Cristina maintains dual board certifications as Clinical Nurse Specialist and Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. She is actively engaged in their Neonatal Simulation program as well as the lead coordinator of the S.T.A.B.L.E. Program, facilitating the Defense Health Agency requirements for perinatal education among military treatment facilities. Cristina has been a volunteer member for the Academy of Neonatal Nursing's education committee since 2015.
Cardiac
Lori Dippold, MSN, NNP-BC is a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner in the Level IV NICU at VCU Health in Richmond,Virginia. She is an NRP instructor for NICU, labor and delivery, and well-baby nursery staff. She is actively involved in the NICU antibiotic stewardship program and assists in coordinating the NICU morbidity and mortality reviews. Lori serves as the co-chair for the Improving Neonatal Outcomes Committee for the Virginia Neonatal Perinatal Collaborative (VNPC).
Erin Broush, MSW, MSN, NNP-BC is a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner in the Level IV NICU at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU, located in Richmond, VA. Prior to becoming a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, Erin was a neonatal nurse at a Level IV NICU in Raleigh, NC for over 7 years. Her interests include neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) and breastfeeding, serving on the Virginia Neonatal Perinatal Collaborative (VNPC) NAS group, as well as the state-wide NAS Project development committee for the VNPC. In addition, she is actively involved in quality improvement committees for establishing Baby-Friendly Hospital status and unit-based breastfeeding. She is also an NRP instructor for NICU, labor and delivery, well-baby nursery, and VCU SOM Pediatric residency staff.
Karen D’Apolito, PhD, APRN, NNP-BC, FAAN is a Professor and Program Director of the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Program at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. She has been in the field of neonatal nursing since 1971. She has made national and international contributions to the care of drug-exposed infants through both education and research. Dr. D’Apolito has served on the Board of the National Association of Neonatal Nurses and recently completed a three-year term as an Executive Committee member of the Academy of Neonatal Nursing. She is on the Editorial Board of The Journal Neonatal Network and is an article reviewer for JOGNN. She has also reviewed selected articles about neonatal abstinence for the New England Journal of Medicine. Dr. D’Apolito has developed a unique inter-observer reliability program to train healthcare professionals in assessing infants for signs of withdrawal. The program has been used in many hospitals throughout the US, Canada, and Internationally.
Respiratory
Brenda Wallingford, DNP, APRN, NNP-BC has been impacting the lives of infants and their families for over four decades. She actively practices in her specialty of Neonatology and has been an adjunct faculty member at Creighton University, Nebraska. Brenda has been published with her work related to the Golden Hour and remains passionate about optimizing outcomes of this fragile population.
Geri Hansen, MSN,RN-BC has a clinical background in NICU nursing, and has experience in value analysis, quality, and information technology. She has a master’s degree in nursing leadership and holds a professional nursing certification in informatics. Geri has helped lead significant increases in Telehealth activities across the region and strongly believes in delivering the right care to the right patient at the right time. Through her work in Telehealth and Patient facing applications, she has been able to support removing barriers to care access.
Gastrointestinal
Julie Medas, MSN, APRN-CNS is the Neonatal Clinical Nurse Specialist in a 49-bed Level III NICU at The MetroHealth System in Cleveland Ohio. She is active as a NRP instructor and STABLE instructor and coordinates educational programming within NICU and Women & Children’s department. Julie collaborates with members of the multidisciplinary team to oversee quality improvement initiatives and ensure consistent science-informed care delivery. She has published and presented at numerous conferences. Her passion is to mentor and empower clinical nurses’ and their professional development. Julie is also currently serving as a consultant at East Carolina University School of Nursing’s Neonatal CNS program.
Kelly Gilhousen, MSN, RNC-NIC, RN-BC is a clinical nurse, unit-based Education Coordinator, STABLE instructor and preceptor in a 49-bed level III NICU at The MetroHealth System in Cleveland Ohio. She is instrumental in innovative teaching methodology and collaborates with the Nursing Professional Development department to advance staff nurse and preceptor professional development. She has given podium presentations, presented posters at national conferences, and most recently won the 2019 NANN Navigator Award.

Curry Bordelon, DNP, MBA, NNP-BC, CPNP-AC, CNE is an Assistant Professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Nursing. He is the Core Coordinator for the Masters in Nursing Program and maintains an appointment for UAB Hospital. Curry maintains dual board certifications as a Neonatal and Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. Dr Bordelon is an active member of the Executive Committee for the Academy of Neonatal Nursing, President for the Birmingham Chapter of the American Association for Men in Nursing, and President-Elect for UAB School of Nursing Sigma Nu Chapter. He is the 2018 Interprofessional Leadership Fellow for the UAB Center for Interprofessional Education and Simulation, and the former President of the Georgia Association of Neonatal Nurses. Curry is the author of two neonatal nursing textbooks and other peer-reviewed journal articles.

Amy Snyder, MSN, NNP-BC is an NNP in Portland, Oregon. She graduated with her BSN from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Her NICU nursing experience started in a small, Level II NICU in western, rural Nebraska. Her interest in furthering her education and advancing her career sparked when NNPs from the Denver metro area would come to her home unit and provide education on newborn care. She moved to the Denver area and worked in a large academic facility as a NICU nurse while attending Regis University to earn her MSN. Amy moved to the Pacific Northwest and works as an NNP in several NICUs in the area. She is an instructor for a training center teaching NRP and S.T.A.B.L.E. She served on the ANN conference planning committee in 2018. She also served on the program development board for a clinically focused APRN degree program through Providence University. Education, staff support, and family centered care are her passion.

Dana Morales APRN, MSN, NNP-BC is currently a neonatal nurse practitioner for PEDIATRIX in the DFW-Metroplex. She enjoys working as preceptor for NNP students and frequently lectures on neonatal topics. Dana was a VON representative for antibiotic stewardship and PDA treatment options, and she has special interests in GI/NEC topics and NAS.
Emily Schmidt, APRN, MSN, NNP-BC is a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner(NNP). She has worked in neonatal intensive care for 25 years and 17 years as an NNP. Emily currently works for Envision Physician Services caring for sick and premature newborn infants. She received her MSN from University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and BSN from Texas Women’s University. In addition to caring for infants in the neonatal intensive care unit, Emily has a passion for nursing education and was an adjunct professor at Baylor University, Louise Herrington School of Nursing from 2013-2019. Kathryn Rudd, DNP, MSN, BSN, RNC-NIC, c-NPT has been a neonatal nurse for over 30 years and has experience in nursing education for the last 18 years. She has functioned as a neonatal nurse educator, and is an NRP, STABLE, and BLS instructor. Kathryn is certified in high risk neonatal nursing, neonatal and pediatric transport, end of life in pediatric and neonatal nursing, and has a post graduate certification in clinical education and biomedical ethics. She is the author of several chapters in neonatal textbooks, including most recently, the Core Curriculum for Neonatal Nursing due out in 2020. The Critical Components of Pediatric Nursing (2nd ed.) by Rudd and Kocisko won the American Journal of Nursing AJN Book of the Year in December 2019. Kathryn has published both nationally and internationally and has been a contributor to Neonatal Network since 2011. Kathryn is married to her high school sweetheart and has four children and two grandchildren.
Genetics & HEENT
Angela Miller, BSN, RNC-NIC is a neonatal staff nurse at Lafayette General Medical Center located in Lafayette, Louisiana. She is the lead NRP instructor for LGMC and teaches STABLE and Physical Assessment of the Newborn classes. Angela also performs outreach education for hospital staff throughout South Louisiana. She functions in the charge nurse role while also serving as a mentor/preceptor for new staff members. Angela is an active member of the neonatal transport team, and the infection control, skin care, and quality improvement committees at LGMC. She also compiles data for LGMC on the number of central line days, central line infections and length of stays for the NICU.
Pharmacology
Debbie Fraser, MN, CNEON(C) is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Health Disciplines at Athabasca University. She holds an appointment in the Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine, and the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Manitoba. Deb maintains an active practice in the NICU at St Boniface General Hospital, and is the Editor-in-Chief of Neonatal Network. She is the author of two nursing textbooks and over 70 book chapters and peer-reviewed articles on topics related to high-risk newborns.
Developmental Care
Sheri Kimmey, MSN, RNC-NIC, NDCS is a Clinical Nurse Educator at Nebraska Methodist Women’s Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska. Sheri is part of the Developmental Team, she coordinates/facilitates the NICU follow up clinic and is responsible for the developmental education on the unit. Sheri also spends part of her time creating/facilitating NICU specific education for staff. She is actively involved in the Unit Based Council and Developmental committees.
Anna Holcomb, DNP, APRN, RNC-NIC is a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at Nebraska Methodist Women’s Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska. She is an NRP instructor at the Women’s Hospital and is passionate about Neuro-protective care in the NICU. Anna was also involved in the creation of ANN’s Guide to NICU Care.
Family Issues
Valerie Yu, DNP, APRN, CPNP, FNP-C, NNP-BC is an Assistant Professor in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas. She maintains an NNP practice at Bryan Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Professional Issues
Jenny Quinn, PhD, NNP-BC is a practicing NNP at NorthBay Medical Center in Northern California. Her research focus is in the field of implementation science with a focus on discovering methods to better enhance the adoption, implementation, and sustainability of EBP. Dr. Quinn is the founder and manager of Neonatal Quality Improvement Performance and in this capacity serves as a research consultant with Stanford University. In this role, Dr. Quinn is currently assisting Stanford’s research team on a NIH ROI study examining team performance and clinical outcomes following implementation of a neonatal patient safety simulation and debriefing program. She is actively involved with California Perinatal Quality Care Collaborative, or CPQCC, and is a member of CPQCC’s Research Committee. Dr. Quinn has authored peer-reviewed journal articles.
